Artist Bio: Prior to entering the commercial world of Graphic Design, Janice had been making a living with her Painting, Stained-glass and Sandblasting work. Her subjects then were flowers, barns and country landscapes. The love of the outdoors carried her into painting wildlife for 2 years. Most recently, Janice has blended her Traditional background in art, with photography, 14 years of computer experience and 8 years of Giclee Printing to produce a series of mixed media pieces. Her intention is to capture and recreate the emotional presence of a subject by using textures, atmospheric colour and lighting. Her technique involves refining and embellishing with 50 to 100 thin layers of oil glazes, merging layers of colour and imagery. It is a long process from concept to finished product that can take up to 6 months. Her experience of living in Holland is reflected when she sometimes paints in a palette reminiscent of the Dutch artists.

Moment of Mystery

A magnificently framed (50.5"W x 26-3/4"H) original Watercolour titled "Moment of Mystery" by noted Toronto artist Arno Arrack (born in Tallinn, Estonia). When you gaze into an Arrak landscape, you don't just see an image - you feel a mood, you experience the grandeur and interdependence of humanity and nature.

Artist Bio: Arno Arrak was born in 1963 in Tallinn, Estonia, into an artistic family. His father Jüri Arrak is one of Estonia's most prominent artists with work in the collections of major museums and galleries throughout Europe and the United States, and his mother a watercolour artist and designer in leather craft. Arno's early training in his father's studio first gave him a fundamental base in color and form. Later he attended the Art University of Estonia where he studied under several master printmakers, supplementing his education in St. Petersburg, Russia, and Stockholm, Sweden. In his early twenties, Arno made several journeys into the mountains of Southern Siberia in search of ancient spiritual traditions. This was where he first experienced the empowering spirit and purity of nature that is so strongly present in his work. Resisting the oppression of human rights and spiritual freedom of the Soviet occupation in Estonia, Arno moved to Sweden in 1989. After 2 years in Sweden, he relocated to Toronto, Canada. He started working as master printmaker at Toronto Open Studio, where he developed a unique watercolour monoprint technique with Alan Flint, one of Canada's leading printmakers. This technique has attracted widespread international interest among printmakers and art collectors. For the last 10 years, Arno has been represented by one of the leading art distributors and publishers servicing the United States and Canada. His work is represented in numerous galleries and in private and corporate collections internationally.
